6. Marking and Cutting Blades (Draft)

Note: For best results, read these posts in order. See menu on the right.

The Tips of your wind generator are the most crucial part. We discuss TSR, Tip Speed Ratio, not RSR (Root Speed Ratio). I've seen it stated that the outer 30% of the radius are responsible for 90% of the power.

There are all kinds of fancy ways to make blades. Truth be told, a flat piece of wood tilted at an angle would work. It just wouldn't work that well. For this project, I have opted for a fairly straightforward carving method. The blades are cut at a 3-degree angle. Half-way through the radius of the blade, it is at 6 degrees. The angle steadily increases until it reaches the root of the blade.

I'll post more later. I just got to use someone's saw tonight, so I'm well on my way to a new set of blades!
